Windy Ridge is home to a small grove of Bristlecone Pines. This centenarians are some of the oldest living organisms on the planet, and are found in some of the harshest locations in the world. Most are windburned, dry slopes at high elevation.

This grove is no exception. Unfortunately it wasn’t spared by the miners of the region who valued it’s durable lumber and used it when constructing they're mills and mines. This tree bares the scars of axes, but continues to rejuvenate and in another 1,000 years will redouble itself. -
