Anatomy of a Composition - Upper Yampa Flight

A light fog rolled across the flood plan south of Steamboat, where the Yampa snakes back and forth through the wide fields and furrows. You can still see the old course of the river and the alteration made by the railroad and farmers alike. The golden light added to the serene setting, with a few of the migratory Herons adding in their morning calls.

The Yampa Valley is an incredible feature in Northern Colorado. With waters streaming in from the Flat Tops Wilderness, the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness, and the dozens of plateaus that dot the landscape, the vast and meandering plain created by the watershed is breathtaking no matter the season.

I so appreciate the drone’s perspective at times like this, even with it’s inherent challenges, when the conditions cooperate the results are nothing but spectacular.
